Dr Cate BVSc MVS
Dr Cate is a caring and experienced veterinarian with a strong passion for animal care and support for clients. After graduating with honours from the University of Sydney in 1994, Cate moved to Northern Victoria to work in a mixed dairy practice, where she remained for the next three years, developing her skills in both small and large animal medicine and surgery.
Inspired by a new challenge, Cate moved to the United Kingdom in early 1998, where she worked as a locum veterinarian in a variety of small and mixed practices for almost two years, gaining further experience and exposure to varying techniques in veterinary medicine. On her return to Australia, Cate was invited to become a partner in the Northern Victorian Practice where she had worked as a new graduate. At that time a branch practice was purchased which became Cate’s “baby”, and with the assistance of dedicated staff, it grew into a strong performing practice with a solid and loyal client base.
Throughout the past 23 years, Cate has completed all the necessary continuing professional education, plus extra study in the areas of small animal surgery and ultrasonography. In 2011 Cate completed a four year Master's degree in small animal practice through Murdoch University in Perth and endeavours to utilise her advanced skills and knowledge in her everyday work in practice.
Cate loves all animals, large and small, but she holds a particular fondness for cattle work. In 2015 following the devastating ANZAC Day earthquake, Cate volunteered to travel to Nepal to be one of only three experienced cattle vets to be in the country to provide veterinary support for the sacred animals which represent the backbone of Nepalese society. It was the most professionally rewarding experience of her career and she hopes to be able to do more volunteering in the future.
In July 2016 Cate and her family made the decision to move north to escape the cold winters of Victoria. After six months of working in a local clinic, Cate recognised she had something different to offer. Taking advantage of her broad experiences, her commitment to professionalism and the latest techniques she decided to set up a mobile-based practice with an emphasis on stress minimisation to the patient.
Cate projects a bright and cheery manner and will always strive for the best outcome for both owner and pet.
